The Yorkshire Stone of this faerie house in Norridge Bottom is both welcoming but sturdy against the elements that sweep across the Pennines. It is spring and the blossom is on the tree and cleaning is on the agenda. Today is a good drying day so the occupant has taken the opportunity to dry her stockings and her yellow dusters on the line and then has swept the yard to keep it spic and span. Now all is done she might take a few minutes to enjoy the sunshine and read the local newspaper to make sure she misses nowt.
The Nook stands by the river and the drystone walling of the riverside and the Yorkshire cobbles reflect the late summer sunshine as the River Holme splashes by. Our faerie enjoys the outdoors and her wellies are well used as she combs the banks for the beautiful local blackberries – later she will make a crumble to share with her visiting faerie friend. The visitor will let herself in as the wooden door, which was reclaimed from an old chapel, will be left unlocked as is the custom in this Yorkshire village.
